Morning-After Pill Propaganda is Deceptive
"The pill can significantly cut a woman's risk of pregnancy when taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex," stated DeWayne Wickham, syndicated columnist in the May 15, Times Recorder Opinion page. The tentacles of the mis-education campaign to deceive the public about the morning-after pill have extended into every newspaper in the country. Abortion advocates such as the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology have adopted a false definition of "pregnancy" which they say commences after the embryo implants into the uterus. Implantation is when pregnancy becomes measurable, but life begins about a week earlier when the sperm fertilizes the egg in the fallopian tubes. That is when you were conceived. No arbitrary point after fertilization makes us any more alive or any more human than we were the moment before.
"The Father of Modern Genetics," Dr. Jerome Lejeune, M.D., testified before the Senate in 1981, "To accept the fact that after fertilization has taken place a new human has come into being is no longer a matter of taste or opinion . . . it is plain experimental evidence."
The "Father of In Vitro Fertilization," Dr. Landrum Shettles, professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons and Director of Research at the New York Fertility Research Foundation, testified, "Conception confers life and makes that life one of a kind."
Dr. Micheline Matthews-Roth, M.D., professor at Harvard University Medical College, testified, "Each individual has a very neat beginning, at conception."
Science textbooks also confirm that life begins at fertilization; this is no longer factually debatable. Abortion advocates have re-defined pregnancy purely for convenience. It is easier to exploit a crisis pregnancy and foist a human pesticide upon an unsuspecting mother when you have convinced her that it's not a baby, it's just a "blob of tissue."
True, the morning-after pill has the contraceptive mode of action. But it also has an abortifacient mode of action: If ovulation and conception occurs, as it frequently does, then its mode of action is to abort an already-conceived human being by not allowing him or her to implant in the uterus.
We should not be surprised by the extensive mis-education campaign of the defenders of the morning-after-pill. After all, if you are going to kill an innocent human being, what's the big deal about deceiving the public about it? The holocaust of abortion can only survive in the dark closet of dishonesty and insincerity. The excuses for killing innocent human beings fade to folly when exposed to the light.
Dispensing the morning-after pill is a reckless disregard for human life, all of its contraceptive potential notwithstanding. It should be banned as should all other forms of chemical and surgical child-killing.
There are 16 physicians in Muskingum County who are convinced that life begins at fertilization and who will not commit nor refer for abortions. Their names can be found at www.prolifephysicians.org. Trust your health and life to doctors who respect the divine commandment that forbids killing innocent people.
Dr. James P. Johnston of the Tri-Valley Family Practice in Dresden is also the director of the Association of Pro-Life Physicians, www.prolifephysicians.org.
