The Last American Minority
By Patrick Johnston
We finally have a black President. Actually, half black. I have been told by liberals that the reason I didn’t vote for Obama was that I’m secretly racist. Actually, I voted for a black man more black than he: Republican Alan Keyes.
In the last presidential election, the leading contenders were a woman, an African American, and a Mormon.
President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee is Hispanic – an openly racist Hispanic at that, who is a member of the racist Hispanic organization La Raza (“the race”) and has supported quotas in order to favor minority races over whites. Obama has boasted that her experiences as a Hispanic make her more qualified to be on the Supreme Court than any white male. If George W. Bush had said that Samuel Alito’s experiences as an Caucasian male make him more qualified for the High Court than any female non-white, do you think for a second that Bush would have been universally hailed to be a bigoted, sexist hatemonger, and that his nominee would have been tarred and feathered faster than you can say “Clarence Thomas”?
In a speech in Germany recently, Obama boasted that his skin color was different than that of most Americans who have historically spoken on American policy in Germany. Actually, the last eight years, Colin Powell and Condaleeza Rice have been the primary faces representing American policy in Germany. This tendency to favor minorities in positions of leadership is bipartisan – indeed, even the Grand Ol’ Party of the “old, white males” has an African American leader named Michael Steele! Democrats don’t have a monopoly on minority leadership. They are the party that fought for legal slavery of blacks in America, let us not forget.
I’m convinced that this tendency to favor the underdog is one of the great things about America. At the very least, we want a close fight. We’d all favor handicapping Tiger Woods against a freshman golf contestant, or putting ankle weights on Brock Lesnar in his upcoming UFC heavyweight bout with Frank Mir. Nobody wants to the Patriots lose 49 to 3 in another Super Bowl, or a UFC belt change hands with a ten second knockout.
If my fellow Caucasians are upset about the injustice of racist quotas that penalize whites because their race and favors non-whites because of their race, just give it some time. If current demographic trends continue, whites will be a minority race by 2042.
It is this tendency to sympathize with the weak and helpless that offers the pre-born their best chance of justice in the United States. They are, after all, the last Americans to be enslaved by bigotry and persecuted based upon arbitrary, involuntary qualities, such as their age, their level of development, and their place of residence. As more Americans become aware of genetics and early biological development, and as the imaging of early human life becomes more advanced and spectacular, the arguments human embryos and fetuses aren’t living people is rapidly being shown to be the specious breath of hot air that it is.
If Americans can be made to face the plight of the preborn children, maybe they will sympathize with them as they have with other persecuted minorities throughout American history. It won’t be a pretty picture for them to see, especially since as many as one in four American adults have killed one or more preborn children by abortion, and such images resurrected suppressed guilt that is difficult to face - but they must see it nonetheless! The abolitionists and slaves make America look slavery in the eyeball, through books like Uncle Tom’s Cabin, the testimonies of freed slaves such as Equianos, and contemporary theater, sermons, and plays. So don’t give up, my fellow sidewalk counselors and anti-abortion extremists! Make America see the pictures of babies slaughtered by abortion.
minority (Numbers 35).
Maybe, with God’s help, the tide will turn and Americans will begin to sympathize the underdog. A little affirmative action and social justice for the preborn would be nice for a change, wouldn’t it?
I’m a right-wing anti-choice homophobic extremist mutt who is mostly Irish but 1/16th Cherokee. Can I get put on the minority list?
